Dr. Chris Kivuti is a living testament to what education can do. Growing up in Ugweri Thau, Embu County, he dared to dream big — and education was the vehicle that carried him all the way to a PhD in the United States. But even as he built a life and career abroad, he never forgot where he came from.
He remembered the children of Ugweri Thau walking long distances to overcrowded schools, learning without adequate books or facilities. He saw an opportunity not just to give back, but to build something lasting — and so Kivutis Academy was born.
Dr. Kivuti returns regularly to Kenya to personally meet the children, encourage them, motivate them, and assist the most vulnerable. His visits — most recently in early 2026 — are moments of inspiration for hundreds of young learners who see in him the proof that their dreams are possible.
💻 Computer Resource Centre: Dr. Kivuti has also built and opened a dedicated computer resource centre at the school — available not just to students, but to the wider community of Ugweri Thau, bridging the digital divide in rural Kenya.
Kivutis Academy is registered under Registration Number 14P20000711 as a pre-primary and mixed day primary school. Every dollar raised in America, every wellwisher touched by this story, directly translates into a child in rural Kenya receiving a world-class education.
